Tier 1

Skill Sprout offers a variety of professional development programs and services to assist your pre-K - 12 staff in developing their expertise in providing improved learning outcomes for students. Our clinically certified professionals (BCBAs, SLPs, OTs, and LCPCs) are ready to design workshops or conferences for your school or district. Regardless of the needs for your school or district, Skill Sprout can send a consultant to evaluate and discuss your training needs.

LARGE GROUP AND SCHOOL WIDE TRAINING

  • Staff Training - Our clinically certified professionals will meet with you to evaluate and discuss training needs for your staff. We will develop professional learning specific to the needs of your school, district or classroom. Your consultant will send you the training ahead of time for your approval to ensure that it meets the needs of your staff.
  • Staff Performance Assessment - After developing the training, consultant will provide information, awareness, and training to your staff to build their knowledge and expertise in the agreed upon area. Your staff will have the opportunity to practice methodology, create materials, and ask questions. They will also receive the consultant's contact information for future questions.

STAFF TRAINING/COACHING/MENTORING

In addition to staff training, Skill Sprout's clinically certified consultants are available to support the transfer of learning gained via trainings to application in the school setting. A certified consultant will provide targeted coaching to a group of staff from your school or district.

  • Individual/Group Training - Our clinically certified professionals will meet with you to evaluate and discuss training needs for your staff. We will develop professional learning specific to the needs of your school, district or classroom. Your consultant will send you the training ahead of time for your approval to ensure that it meets the needs of your staff.
  • Present Staff Training - After developing your training, your consultant will provide information, awareness, and training to your staff to build their knowledge and expertise in the agreed upon area. Your staff will have the opportunity to practice methodology, create materials, and ask questions. They will also receive the consultant's contact information for future questions.
  • Support Staff in Material Development - After the initial training, your consultant will come to your school or district to assist a group of your staff in developing and organizing materials to meet the individual needs of the students in their classrooms.
  • Observe Implementation and Provide Feedback - Your consultant will observe the targeted staff in their classroom and assist them in problem solving, implementing strategies, and mastering new skills. He or she will provide corrective feedback and follow-up with your staff as needed. Your consultant will be available via email or telephone to answer additional questions. If desired, your consultant will provide follow-up training and support.


Tier 2

Skill Sprout offers a number of opportunities to have clinically certified professionals assist your teachers in setting-up a structured classroom or providing social skills groups to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders or developmental delays. Our professionals will work with your staff prior to the school year to set up the supports necessary for children to be successful, as well as provide ongoing observation, training, and feedback throughout the school year to ensure staff and student success.

CREATE IN-DISTRICT AUTISM CLASSROOMS

  • Provide Training Before and During the School Year - A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will conduct training for the all classroom staff (teachers, paraprofessionals, SLPs, etc.) prior to the school year on how to effectively set up a structured teaching classroom. This training will include: organization of the classroom, visual schedules, visual supports, behavior reduction techniques, data collection, and goal setting. As needed, your consultant(s) will be available to provide additional training related to necessary topics throughout the school year.
  • On-going Consultation - Your BCBA(s) will be available to observe, provide support and consult with administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals and parents to ensure individual growth of each student in the classroom. The consultant and school staff will collaborate to design classroom supports, create materials, and develop data collection systems. The consultant will support teachers in analyzing data and making program changes.
  • Conduct Assessments - Your BCBA is available to conduct formal assessments (FBA, VB-MAPP, Vineland), provide recommendations, and assist in the development of data-based behavior intervention plans.
  • Attend IEP Meetings - Your BCBA is available to attend IEP, team, and parent meetings in order to support teachers and facilitate communication amongst all service providers. He or she will also assist teachers in developing IEP goals, designing classroom accommodations to support student growth, and developing and implementing recommendations from IEP and/or team meetings.

CREATE IN-DISTRICT SOCIAL SKILLS GROUPS

Skill Sprout has Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPCs) available to provide training, support and performance feedback to your staff in developing school-wide or district-wide social skills groups.

  • Creation of Social Skills Groups - Your Skill Sprout consultant will assist your staff in assessing and identifying the needs for social skill groups in your school or district. The consultant will provide guidance in grouping kids, based on needs, as well as recruiting peer models to participate.
  • Development of Social Skills Curriculum- Your LCPC or LCSW will assist your staff in developing a social skills curriculum for each group based on identified need and developmental levels or ages of students in each group. Topics might include: Greetings, Initiating a Conversation, Understanding the Listener, Reading Social Cues, Empathy, Problem Solving and Apologizing. The consultant will provide training to staff on scientifically-research based ways to run each group as well as support your staff in developing data collection procedures.
  • Monitoring Social Skills Groups - Your Skill Sprout consultant will assist teachers with analyzing data and making any needed changes to groups or curriculum. The consultant will also provide on-going consultation and training to staff as needed.


Tier 3

Skill Sprout has Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) available to assist your school staff in managing individual student behaviors, setting up goals and programming, training and supporting teachers and paraprofessionals, and ensuring positive outcomes for all students.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT (INDIVIDUAL STUDENT)

  • Assessment - The BCBA will conduct an in-depth assessment of the student's current skills using formal (e.g., Vineland-II, VB-MAPP, etc) and informal (e.g., observation, interviews, etc) assessments. He or she will complete a formal report including recommendations for goals and programming.
  • Develop Programming - The BCBA will write programs based on the student's current needs, assist the teacher in creating necessary materials, and develop data tracking tools to monitor progress.
  • Training - The BCBA will train the student's teachers and support staff not only to implement programs with efficacy, but also to collect data accurately. The consultant will work to ensure school staff understand how to analyze data in order to determine when the student has met mastery criteria and can be moved to the next target, phase, or skill.
  • Follow-Up - The BCBA will follow up with the teacher weekly through a phone call about the student. He or she will also meet with the teacher and support staff monthly in-person to analyze data, revise, and/or write new programs as necessary. The consultant will be available through email to answer questions or concerns as needed.

INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATION

Skills Sprout's BCBAs are available to assist school administrators, teachers and staff in reducing challenging behaviors and increasing appropriate behaviors through assessment and consultation. Our BCBAs are trained to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop data-based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as well as provide recommendations for other problem behaviors (work avoidance, verbal/physical aggression, truancy, etc.)

  • Assessment - A BCBA will conduct an assessment including, but not limited to, interviews with staff and parents as well as observation of the student in school, daycare, home, or other relevant settings. The consultant will record antecedents and consequences and analyze the data in order to develop a hypothesis regarding the function of the problem behavior. The consultant will write a formal report to summarize results and provide recommendations for strategies to increase appropriate behavior and decrease problem behavior(s).
  • Consultation - The BCBA will attend an IEP meeting or team meeting to review the report and the recommendations with parents and school staff. The consultant will be available to answer questions or problem solve weekly. The consultant will come to the school monthly to observe the student and meet with the team to provide recommendations and support. The BCBA will also be available via email for questions and concerns as needed.

INDIVIDUAL STUDENT DIRECT SERVICE

Skills Sprout's BCBAs are available to assist school administrators, teachers and staff in reducing challenging behaviors and increasing appropriate behaviors through assessment and consultation.   • Direct Therapeutic Services - The BCBA will develop and write recommended programs as well as develop data collection sheets and procedures. The BCBA will provide training to the teacher, school staff and paraprofessional so they can implement therapy with integrity. Your consultant will provide on-going data analysis, program supervision and monitoring as often as the team feels is necessary. The BCBA will revise and add programs as needed by the student. Your consultant will attend and participate in all IEP or team meetings as well as provide a report each quarter to be sent home with the student's report card.
  • Parent Training - The BCBA is prepared to offer individual and group parent trainings to help support parents and school staff in ensuring the best outcomes for their child.
  • Reassessment - The BCBA will provide a reassessment of the student's skill, annually. This will include administration of a formalized assessment instrument as well as interviews, observations and anecdotal information.
