Social Skills Junior Intern

The Social Skills Junior Intern’s role is to provide quality and professional support to the Peer Models and families involved in Skill Sprout's Peer Modeling Program, as well as quality and professional support to clinicians within the Social Skills Department.This position will report directly to a Social Skills Consultant in an assigned region. This is a part-time, volunteer-based position.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Serve as a "Lead Peer Model" by following assigned schedule for volunteer hours, as well as assisting with the implementation of Peer Trainings, as assigned
  • Prepare treatment materials as directed by Consultants
  • Provide in office respite care for Skill Sprout clients and siblings if needed during events and trainings
  • Assist in oversight and management of the Peer Model Volunteer program in an assigned region
  • Communicate with Peer Model families for the purpose of coordination of schedules
  • Communicate with perspective Peer Model families for the purpose of recruiting new volunteers
  • Assist in preparing marketing materials for Peer Model Program
  • Provide operational and clerical support to Social Skills Consultant
  • Observe Social Skills sessions and reliably and consistently collect client performance data for the purpose of reliability and validity screenings, as well as collecting normative Peer Model performance data
  • Answer phones and speak with families in professional, helpful manner
  • Interact with peer and client families in office during peak therapy times to assist with greetings and check in
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times when working with other Skill Sprout staff and clients or families
  • Commit to and follow a weekly schedule
  • Other duties as assigned


The Social Skills Junior Intern will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Candidates will be at least entering Freshman year of High School
  • Preferred prior experience interacting with children, preference given to those who have experience interacting with children with disabilities, those who have completed a CPR training, or those who have completed a certified babysitter training course
  • Strong writing skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with technology programs including comfort with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology programs
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Flexibility with scheduling and work hours as client and company needs change
